Research & Methodology

This calculator uses the NCEP ATP III criteria for metabolic syndrome, updated with current research. A 2018 study in Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders found that only 12.2% of Americans are metabolically healthy, and a 2022 study in the Journal of the American College of Cardiologylowered that estimate to just 6.8% when using stricter criteria.
